Renewal

So true. I am just back from a month of being completely unplugged. When was the last time you gave yourself that gift? A new beginning, a renewed perspective, a rebirth, recharged. Call it what you will, it feels amazing, limitless, like everything and anything is possible. September brings this feeling—back to school, back to work. But the beauty of a new day is a renewed sense of freedom. How can we carry this into every new day?
Start with the basics:

HEALTHY EATING:

LOAD UP ON GREENS. The more greens the better. Make greens a part of every meal. Throw it in soups, omeletes, opt for more salads, saute it over rice. Add in grass-fed meats, wild fish, colourful vegetables, legumes, non-gluten grains like quinoa, millet and healthy fats like avocados and coconut.
Simple Trick: Pump up your day with a green smoothie.

DRINK WATER. Down a huge glass of water when you wake up. Not only does this hydrate, but encourages healthy eating all day. Make 2 liters of water your daily regime.
Simple Trick: Flavour water with lemon, parsley, berries.

GO ORGANIC. Yes, the media is buzzing with reports that organics have no significant nutritional advantages to conventional foods. I disagree 100%. It’s about what organic doesn’t contain. The study is full of loop holes and is suspicious since conventional agriculture giant Cargill funds Stanford. Yet newspapers and TV stations made it truth. Arsenic-laden chicken, hmm not so nutritious. Conventional poultry may contain the same amount of protein as an organic chicken, but it is unnaturally fattened, artificially pigmented and fed Prozac to alleviate its constant distress. YUM. At least with organic, you are not eating chemicals. But keep in mind, but sugar is sugar. Organic gummy bears may be organic,  The Organic Stamp isn’t a stamp of health.

Here’s the deal: Organic is a question of what you want to keep out of your body—pesticides, toxins and contaminants.
Simple Trick: Buy organic produce and meats you eat daily. Stay clear of organic sodas, chips and junk foods.

Isn’t it time you were thrilled with your everyday? Start with committing to healthy eating and notice the difference. CAUTION: It’s addictive.

The more you eat well, the more you want to eat well. Soon green juice will be your phix. Trust me!
